our story
How we got
Our namE
Farm Living has always been the guiding motto here on the Ferriss Farm, a Fifth Generation Family Farm that has raised beef cattle, crops, and even exotic animals. Sam’s grandparents, Warren and Ruth, founded Ferriss Exotics, where they raised and traded exotic animals across the country. Sam's father, Roger, was a key figure on the farm, helping with the care and transportation of animals and working the farmland.
In 2000, Sam’s parents, Roger and Vicki, embarked on a new venture with "Art From The Farm," a unique barbed wire art business. Roger managed the business with enthusiasm and charm, traveling extensively and making friends all over the U.S. This business eventually led to nearly full-time travel as Vicki showcased her artwork nationwide. During this time, Sam took on the role of primary caretaker of the farm.
Roger and Vicki’s travel nicknames, "Rusty" and Barb, have become a cherished part of our story. Following Roger’s passing in 2018 at the young age of 58, we wanted to honor him through this new chapter. Sam often jokes that his father would be astounded to see gravel laid over a perfectly good farm field for a campground. While Roger might have initially thought this idea was unconventional, we believe he would support it wholeheartedly now.
As we embark on this new journey with our ATVenture, we hope you’ll join us in making it a success. We think of Roger often and hope he continues to watch over us, reminding us to live life fully and cherish the happy moments.
